DAY TIME GHOST HUNTS on MACKINAC ISLAND:
Saturday Noon - 3:00 p.m. (times approximate)\
We'll begin the day time investigation at the island's oldest cemetery. EVPS were captured during our 2011 and 2012 investigation (this investigation was featured in our Haunted Travels of Michigan IIII: SPIRITS RISING book.) This year we'll return to see if we can gather more information on the spirit who had communicated with us.
We will also see if the spirits of Private James Brown or Corporal Flynn, both buried at the Post, will communicate with us. Private Brown, the only public hanging on the island, shot and killed Corporal Flynn in the mess hall of Fort Mackinac. It caused much controversy on the island. To his dying day, Brown claimed the shooting was an accident. We're hoping Private Brown and Corporal Flynn will share the truth of what happened that day.
LENGTH OF INVESTIGATION HERE : 30 Minutes
SITE OF THE GREAT MANITOU
This location is deep within the woodlands of the island. It is the site of a monolithic rock that rises 75 feet straight up. It is believed the limestone rock was carved glacial melt waters of Lake Algonquian and polar storms.
Early Native Americans believed the site to be the sacred home of thickety Manitou (Great Spirit) It is believed to be the burial site of high ranking Chieftains.
There have been reports that spirits (spirit lights) are seen here. In fact, during last year's investigation we did visually see two of this crazy lights in the woods beneath the rock. We're returning this year to see if we can see and actually record these lights. We'll also attempt to communicate with remaining Native American spirits.
INVESTIGATION TIME: 30 Minutes
THE DEATH TRAIL & ARCH ROCK
The last stop on the investigation will return us to a location/area of the island where it is believed the death of a young college student occurred. Some believe he killed himself over a broken relationship. Others, however, consider the possibility he was murdered. Although the exact location of his death is not clearly known, we do have a general idea where it occurred. On this investigation, we'll see if we can bring up the spirit of the young student and discover, once and for all, if it was murder or suicide.
This location was also the site of one of our most powerful investigations during last year's investigation. We began communication with what appeared to be a young spirit boy looking for his parents. We attempted to transition his spirit. (SEE VIDEO OF THIS SESSION HERE).
We believe the area that surrounds Arch Rock is, in fact, an area of high activity. Who knows what we'll discover this year.
INVESTIGATION TIME: Approx. 1 hour (open time - based on investigator's choice). This stop concludes daytime investigations. The walk back to Mission Point Resort is approximately 15-20 minutes.
